FILMING IN THE CITY

FILMING IN THE CITY

Filming in the City, Word-Play’s intense two-week summer camp ran during the summer of 2011. The camp had a simple purpose: letting kids explore great literature and the film-making process at the same time. Most students in Filming in the City were current or past participants in Word-Play’s other after-school programs.

During two weeks in mid-summer, students aged 10-12 made movie magic, creating three films dramatizing Newbery Award–winning novels. The students’ finished films were submitted to The New York Public Library’s 90-Second Newbery Film Festival.
